Q. Did you have a favorite player growing up?
A. I liked to watch Pavel Bure. He was my favorite player, I had a [Vancouver Canucks] jersey of his.
Q. What has been your favorite moment in your hockey career?
A. I’d have to say winning two state championships with my high school [Detroit Catholic Central] hockey team. It was really fun and that’s when I first started to like hockey.
Q: What’s been the biggest adjustment going from the collegiate ranks to professional hockey?
A. Everything happens a lot quicker. Obviously you’re playing with better players so things are sometimes easier and sometimes are harder.
Q. How does a Detroit kid get wrapped into hockey? You think football, basketball, Michigan. How did you find your way to hockey?
A. Hockey was pretty big in the area where I was from, the Ann Harbor, Plymouth, Canada area. My dad put skates on me when I was 4 and I haven’t taken them off since.
Q. Did you have a role model growing up?
A. Other players on our team. There were some better players and I was just trying to do what they do. Also, growing up being a Detroit Red Wings fan and watching Steve Yzerman. He was another my favorite player of mine. Just trying to mock his style of play, shooting the puck and moving my feet.
