Devils Edged by Sharks, 2-1
Ivan Khomutov scores lone Devils goal in loss

WORCESTER, Mass. Taylor Dakers had 25 saves for his first American Hockey League victory and the Worcester Sharks (3-0-0-0) defeated the Lowell Devils (2-3-0-0) Saturday Night at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA.

The Devils jumped out to the early lead, with Ivan Khomutov netting his second goal of the season just 6:15 into the game. Mark Fraser and Stephen Gionta assisted on the tally. The lead would not hold for long, as Worcester tied the score less than two minutes later when Dennis Packard pushed a loose puck past Devils G Frank Doyle. Later in the period, the Sharks forged ahead as Nate Raduns scored to make it 2-1 after one period.

Both goalies settled down in the second frame, with neither allowing a goal. The Devils defense was aggressive in the period, only allowing four Worcester shots, but Lowell was unable to capitalize on two power plays, however, and the score remained the same entering the third.

Worcester could not add to their lead in the third, despite two power plays. With under a minute remaining in the game, and Doyle pulled for an extra attacker,  Devils F Noah Clarke had a chance to tie the game, but  Dakers made the  save to seal the win. Doyle finished with 33 saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 24th when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05pm. Every Wednesday night is Dollar Dawg Night at the Tsongas Arena – all hot dogs are just $1 each.
