Devils Shutout By Sharks, 3-0
Lowell’s seven-game road winning streak stopped by Worcester
WORCESTER, Mass. – Tyson Sexsmith made 21 saves for his first professional shutout as the Worcester Sharks blanked the Lowell Devils, 3-0, at the DCU Center on Friday. The loss put an end to Lowell’s franchise-best and AHL-season high seven-game road winning streak.
After a scoreless first period, Andrew Desjardins put Worcester up, 1-0, 1:37 into the second when he took a centering pass from behind the net by John McCarthy and put the puck over the glove of Jeff Frazee.
That goal stood through the final minutes of the regulation as the Devils pulled Frazee to try and find the equalizer with the extra attacker. Worcester would put the game out of reach on empty-net goals with less than a minute left by Dennis McCauley and Danny Groulx.
Frazee took the loss despite stopping 34-of-35 shots. The second-year netminder has allowed only one goal in each of his last three defeats.
The Devils return home on Saturday, Feb. 6 to host the Portland Pirates at 7:00PM. Go online to AHLlive.com to listen to or watch all of the live Devils action. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond Bobblehead, courtesy of Comcast Business Class.
