Devils See Senators End Skid, 4-1
St. Pierre posts three points as Binghamton ends eight-game winless streak
LOWELL, Mass. – The Binghamton Senators brought an end to their eight-game winless streak with a 4-1 win over the Lowell Devils on Wednesday at the Tsongas Center. The Senators' first-ever win against the Devils was their first road victory since Dec. 19 at Norfolk – a span 12 games.
Martin St. Pierre lead Binghamton’s offense with a goal and two assists and helped break a scoreless tie just 4:43 into the first period. Skating on the power play, St. Pierre fired in a point shot that Zack Smith redirected over the shoulder of Mike McKenna.
After the ensuing face-off, it took just 14 seconds for the Senators to notch their second goal of the night.
Kaspars Daugavins pushed the puck down the right side and found an open Neil Petruic pinching from the blueline for the open one-timer into the back of the net.
Carrying over a power play from the end of the first period, the Devils would be able to get on the board just 30 seconds into the second. Michael Swift fed a pass across ice to Ben Walter who swept it in through the pads of fired Binghamton goaltender Chris Holt for his 19th goal of the season.
The Senators re-established their two-goal lead with 5:38 left in the second frame when picked up the deflection from Denis Hamel and fired it from the crease through traffic.
Derek Smith made the final score, 4-1, with his power play goal five minutes into the third period.
Holt would stop 34 of the 35 shots he faced to pick up his ninth win of the season. McKenna took the loss for Lowell, making 25 saves.
