McKenna Perfect Again as Devils Blank Sound Tigers, 4-0
Lowell goaltender stops 40 for second shutout in three starts

LOWELL, Mass. – Mike McKenna made 40 saves for his second shutout in three starts and Ben Walter notched a goal and an assist as the Lowell Devils defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-0, on Tuesday at the Tsongas Arena.

Already holding a 3-0 cushion going into the third, Patrick Davis pushed the Devils’ lead to four with 6:52 remaining with a wrist shot from the near circle that beat Scott Munroe to the glove side.

The only question remaining would be if McKenna could hold onto his shutout bid. The Sound Tigers did their best to foil McKenna’s night, firing 19 shots on net in the third period.  McKenna held on for his second win of the season – both coming on shutouts.

The Devils got out to a 1-0 lead at 14:14 of the opening period on Rob Davison’s first goal of the season.  Ben Walter walked past two defensemen into the slot and left the puck behind for Davison to step up and launch into the top corner.

Walter then helped Lowell extend its lead with a power play goal 3:11 into the second.  Matt Taormina found Walter with a pass to the crease, where the Devils center tucked the puck past the leg pad of Munroe

With a 1:05 left until the second intermission, Brad Snetsinger made it 3-0 for Lowell as a funny bounce on a clearing attempt got him behind the defense for a breakaway goal.

The Devils went 1-for-4 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.
