Minard's Hat Trick Leads Falcons Past Devils, 4-2
McKenna's home shutout streak ends at 127:39

LOWELL, Mass. – Chris Minard registered a hat trick against his former team as the Lowell Devils fell to the Springfield Falcons, 4-2, on Sunday at the Tsongas Arena.  Brad Snetsinger and Stephen Gionta potted goals for the Devils in the loss.

The Devils controlled play during the opening minutes of the first period, but it was Minard giving the Falcons the 1-0 lead with a long wrister that stuck by McKenna at 7:39.   Having blanked the opposition in his previous two home games, McKenna’s shutout streak came to an end at 127:39.

Minard would add another one almost three minutes later and make the score, 2-0, when Charles Linglet found him in the far circle for a quick one-timer.

Lowell would strike back quickly in the second period with two goals 61 seconds apart.  Brad Snetsinger cut the Falcons’ lead in half at 2:01 as he drove the net and was able to one-hand Ben Walter’s centering feed up and over goalie Aaron Sorochan.  Stephen Gionta then knotted the score with his fourth of the season thanks to a pass toward the crease that deflected off a pile in front and into the net.

Springfield would take back their lead for good with 8:27 left in the second period on a power play goal by Liam Reddox. Minard completed his hat trick on a empty-net goal with 1:13 remaining.

The Lowell Devils travel to face the Portland Pirates on Friday, October 30 at 7:00PM. For more information, contact the Devils at (978) 458-PUCK (7825) or visit lowelldevilshockey.com.
