Devils Edge Admirals, 2-1
McKenna stops 29 as Lowell makes it four in a row at home
LOWELL, Mass. – Goalie Mike McKenna made 29 saves against his former team as the Lowell Devils held on to defeat the Norfolk Admirals, 2-1, on Friday at the Tsongas Arena. The Devils have now won six of their last seven and four in row at home.
Lowell needed only 24 seconds to get the first goal as Vladimir Zharkov fired a centering pass from the near corner that banked off goalie Dustin Tokarski and into the net.
The Devils made the score, 2-0, in their favor when Michael Swift redirected Olivier Magnan’s shot inside the near post at 12:12 of the first.
Brandon Bochenski made things interesting in the second, scoring his league-leading 12th goal of the season at 12:33 of the period.
McKenna would be perfect the rest of the way to notch his seventh victory of the year and raise his home record to 4-1-0. It was the fourth straight 2-1 decision for Norfolk, who has gone 2-2-1-0 on their current eight-game road trip.
The Lowell Devils will skate against the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday, November 21 at 1:30PM. Tune into the live Devils action at AHLlive.com.
