Devils Blanked By Bruins, 3-0
Lowell makes first visit to Manchester on Saturday
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Dany Sabourin stopped 35 shots and notched his first shutout of the season as the Providence Bruins defeated the Lowell Devils, 3-0, on Friday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Zach Hamill had a hand in all of Providence’s goals with a goal and two assists on the evening.
Providence broke a scoreless tie at 6:25 of the first period when Craig Weller came streaking off the bench to accept a Hamill pass and fire a snapshot from the far circle that beat Jeff Frazee to the glove side.
The Bruins added to their lead with 5:28 left in the second when Frazee couldn’t control a long wrister from Jeff LoVecchio and Hamill swept in to deposit the loose puck lying in the crease.
Hamill then helped put the game out of reach in the closing seconds, blocking a shot and feeding Kirk MacDonald for the empty-net tally. Frazee suffered the loss for the Devils, making 31 saves on 33 shots.
