Devils Shutout By Monarchs, 2-0
Lowell’s win streak ends at three as McKenna makes 29 saves
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Jonathan Bernier made 34 saves and picked up his fourth shutout of the season as the Lowell Devils fell to the Manchester Monarchs, 2-0, on Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
After a scoreless opening period, Oscar Moeller gave Manchester the only goal it would need just 22 seconds into second. Alec Martinez settled a bouncing puck at the Devil’s blueline and sent a shot toward the net as Moeller skated across the crease to tip it over the shoulder of Mike McKenna.
Scott Parse put the game out of reach with 4.5 seconds left in regulation with an unassisted empty-net goal. McKenna suffered the loss for Lowell despite stopping 29-of-30 shots.
